My trip/pilgrimage to Lourdes

Well, I'm back from Lourdes in the pyrinées mountains where I spent 5 DAYS on a pilgrimage with the Sacred Heart Missionaries from Cork ,Ireland. Lourdes is famous as a Pilgrimage destination , as a young uneducated shepherdess, Bernadette Soubirous saw apparitions of Our Lady, on 18 Different occassions 150years ago. My mother invited me to join the group from Cork, in Lourdes, and having hummed & hawed, I eventually decided to go. What a good idea that turned out to be. I had a blast, and though a rich spiritual experience, it was also alot of fun. Much more than I would have expected. For, I met up with alot of beautiful people from various countries as well as the gang from Ireland. and there was much singing and all sorts of high jinks after prayerful, contemplative days, in the various churches & grotto. I sang heartily and gained quite a reputation for myself as the "life& soul" of the party. I also attended several ceremonies such as masses and reconsiliation evenings. The priests who preached were intelligent & informed & spoke wisely & at length about Peace, how we treat our Planet & other topics. There were processions in the evening and as I had difficulty walking, I got pushed around in a wheel-chair which I informed all & sundry was in fact "a disused Popemobile" . And During the procession , there was much "speaking in tongues" i.e. the texts were read in various languages. And each pilgrim carried a candle, as (s)he walked. At various stop-off points on the procession time was taken to light candles for special intentions, and among others I lit a candle for Clare (anam cara) who had asked me to do so, a candle for members & exmembers of the pod surviving souls and a few more for deserving folks not on Gaia. And I bought sparkling trinkets and souvenirs also.

Thank you Mikey for sharing your holy pilgrimage. I've never been there and only saw the movie Bernadette. blessings,
Samme
Thanks so much for posting this Mikey! It sounds divine and I'm so happy you got to go on this wonderful adventure!
Big Hugs XOXO
THIS was always one of my favorite movies. Jennifer Jones was so beautiful in it, and so
believable as Bernadette
Mikey I am so glad you are home and you had a great trip. I am also happy to hear that people combined ceremony and frolic. Fun is the best healer. High vibration. spiritual joy is really hot!
Do you have pictures to post?

It sounds like you had a great time! What a wonderful experience, Mikey.
Thank you for sharing this, especially the image of you in your unused Popemobile–a tea-cozy on your head would have completed the look!! (My protestant-irish grandfather used to stick one on his head and tell us he was the pope–mainly to upset my catholic father….)
beautiful, yes, I'm sure you were the life of the party… sweet of you to light a candle for our dear Clare! big hugs
I have to publicly thank my mother for all. She organised everything and invited me to participate if I should so desire. She is a quiet lady but can be funny in her own subtle way. Why sometimes the proverbial “bull in the chinashop” can be subtler than me, as I rant & rave & gnash my teeth at inappropriate moments. But she & I had a lovely time together, the only bone of contention being what time I go to bed. I've already talked about burning candles & will have to admit that I sometimes am guilty of burning the proverbial candle at both ends- Up late singing bawdy traditional songs, and then up early to prepare for some worthy ceremony that was what the pilgrimage was all about. And lots of walking. When I wasn't in my used popemobile, I walked for miles and miles. As did everyone else.
here's what wikepedia say Lourdes is all about

it seems pretty accurate, but how do I know?
LOL, Mike, you are a delight!
I try to shine my Mikey_Dee light when I can. As Everyone was leaving the tour Director Ms.A Diamond told me I had enhansed the experience for many people- blush, blush (don't you just hate false modesty?)
Mickey.
You should be pope!!!. You are a wonder, and I thank you for remembering me in Lourdes. I have been in such a dark place, but hopefully now slowly emerging through and out. Your mother sounds like a caring soul, is it no wonder you are such a joy.
