The Room
I sit in my room alone,
all alone, surrounder however by thoughts, not alone in my head,
just alone on my bed, in my room,
Midnight hour, dead flower floats on a stream,
Wishing I could talk or I could scream,
blocked tears of many events begin to flow,
the emotions I couldn't show,
came to keep me company,
in my room.
Bitter tears, no doubt salty like in books,
lumps in throats,
Sobs in pillows,
Shoulders from the back which shook.
In layers so deep inside my mind,
subconscious only dares to look,
I don't dare because of fear,
that there I'll see the real me,
and absense of reality and personality, seem so near,
that I go back to live the life,
that others for me, find so dear.
Problems arent solved in a night,
Nor in a life,
nor in a life of lives,
in the morning, in my room, I realise,
to strive to overcome
is at the centre of my sights.
(so I put away the gun)
My new life has just begun.

Wow, you've got talent Mikey_D! This gave me shivers… I've been with this and thru this although I've not really been it seems… your words put me there like dropping a rock onto a glass table.

Julie & Nicole, while I thank you for your comments and hugs, I feel I have to clarify one point here: The I-character in a piece of writing is not neceserally the writer-and while I wrote this piece, I am not the I character, it could be an adolescent girl who finds herself pregnant and alone, it could be a middle-aged business-person of either sex who has just gon through yet another relationship crisis, or failure at work- it could be just about anybody at the end of their tether, grappling with the ultimate “solution” to the problem and considering ending it all. I hope it is a universal theme, that could apply to anyone facing a difficult situation, Of course, writing in the I-mode, rather than in the sheor he-mode makes the reader feel closer to & have more empathy for the character. it becomes a more personal story, but it is not, my personal story. I am more imaginative than suicidal, I assure you. But I appreciate your reactions, and feel that my writing was strong enough to make you wish to comfort the narrator (the I character)

In the land of make believe, you are more suicidal then imaginative and I have several glass tables, neither of which is the truth! You might be responsible for cleaning up the broken glass if the glass were actually broken but in this case the rock simply clattered around chipping and scarring the tabletop. So we're both off the hook so to speak!
