What was the last song you sang?

Posted on Nov 8th, 2008 by Mikey_Dee : A hoot and The frumious Bandersnatc Mikey_Dee
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 08, 2008:

The last song I sang was an invention of my own in French which went " Obama, les pieds plats, a des poils en desous les bras" which I sang regularly at the table in the dining room of the medicalised recovery appartment block, where I live with 11 other survivors. I also sang it in a few French cafés where I go regularly, in the days leading up to & following Election Day. And he won, So some Deity with a grasp of French & a sense of humour must have appreciated it.

The Backward Race (Waiting for death to call)

Posted on Nov 10th, 2008 by Mikey_Dee : A hoot and The frumious Bandersnatc Mikey_Dee
The backward race
I smile & laugh, I sing & dance,
So the tears will not flow,
it's my last chance,
But, I for now am the only one to know,
that the end is fast approaching at the end of life

The people who stand , and cannot understand,
Should I tell them or should I close my mouth?
Inside, I keep all that which can't come out,
I laugh & sing, so I won't scream & shout,
Alone, to face, the great adventure of the Human Race,
Who can go slowest?
Who'll be the last to cross the finish line,
Time will tell,
that most worthy friend of mine.

I am now a sprinter in this race,
against the clock,
And will surpass the worst,
 it's oh so true,
The last will be first and first will be last,
I'm going to lose
so I can be the one
 who won
I'm now just oh so much faster than you

We spend our lives in this backward race, the slowest pace is set by he wo'l win,
I know now I am not to be
the winner of this race,
the last one in

Who is your audience?

Posted on Nov 12th, 2008 by Mikey_Dee : A hoot and The frumious Bandersnatc Mikey_Dee
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 12, 2008:

My Audience used to be paying customers-theatre goers, but recently as I can't work, I  tend to perform wherever I am- in cafés, public transport, doctors waiting rooms, etc. just a week or two ago, in the Parc des buttes Chaumont, near my home in Paris a young child, happily said in a loud voice to his mum, on seeing me in my red hat: "Maman, regardes! un clown!" "Mommy, look a clown!"- the three of us smiled happily at the comic reality of what he had said- here's 2 pics of one section of this beautiful park

How do you comfort those who are sad?

Posted on Nov 17th, 2008 by Mikey_Dee : A hoot and The frumious Bandersnatc Mikey_Dee
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 13, 2008:

I feel it is iportant to allow people to be sad, rather than rushing in there to cheer them up or comfort them. I beleive all emotional states are worth living and have something to teach us. This being said, in reality, I comfort the sad by showing them how much worse things are for others and by hugging them & making them laugh.

Weight/wait

Posted on Nov 19th, 2008 by Mikey_Dee : A hoot and The frumious Bandersnatc Mikey_Dee
The lady looked down at the waiter who was seated at her table"
"Wait!", she hollered in a shrill voice for a lady of her size. " I've been waiting for service for over 30 minutes, and I suggest Sir, that you should be doing the waiting here, not me! I already have weight problems, without having to wait for you to get up & wait".My name is Velvet & I  have a catwalk appointment in 40 minutes, so I suggest you get a move on, unless you want to put your future children's future at risk.

The wood dragon that I am

Posted on Nov 23rd, 2008 by Mikey_Dee : A hoot and The frumious Bandersnatc Mikey_Dee

The key to the Dragon personality is that Dragons are the free spirits of the Zodiac. Conformation is a Dragon's curse. Rules and regulations are made for other people. Restrictions blow out the creative spark that is ready to flame into life. Dragons must be free and uninhibited. The Dragon is a beautiful creature, colorful and flamboyant. An extroverted bundle of energy, gifted and utterly irrepressible, everything Dragons do is on a grand scale - big ideas, ornate gestures, extreme ambitions. However, this behavior is natural and isn't meant for show. Because they are confident, fearless in the face of challenge, they are almost inevitably successful. Dragons usually make it to the top. However, Dragon people be aware of their natures. Too much enthusiasm can leave them tired and unfulfilled. Even though they are willing to aid when necessary, their pride can often impede them from accepting the same kind of help from others. Dragons' generous personalities give them the ability to attract friends, but they can be rather solitary people at heart. A Dragon's self-sufficiency can mean that he or she has no need for close bonds with other people.

Detailed Description
of The Wood Dragon
Wood has a modifying influence and brings creativity to this sign. Questioning and liberal, Wood Dragons enjoy talking about original ideas and are open to other points of view. They are innovative, imaginative practical and appreciate art in each of its forms. Generally less pretentious than other Dragons, Wood Dragons have an ability to get along with other people. They have the essentials to build a prosperous and happy life for themselves. Still, Wood Dragons are outspoken and at times a bit pushy to quell everyone, even in the most friendly quarrel.

What was the best news you heard recently?

Posted on Nov 25th, 2008 by Mikey_Dee : A hoot and The frumious Bandersnatc Mikey_Dee
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 25, 2008:

The best news I heard recently was that I was going to be finished at my medicalised appartment and will be returning to my own fourth floor appt where I used to live before falling ill. This is good news, but presents a challenge, for in the medicalised appt, all meals were prepared, & a nurse in the appartment block was helpful in organising my complicated pill-taking routine & for much else. Also, there is quite a bit of work to be done on my bathroom and as my move is on Thursday next, it doesn't look like it will be done before my move ( and it costs a small fortune). And I was getting a rental allounce to help pay 90% of the medicalised appt, but this will now stop. My own appt was also bringing me a necessary income by renting it out, and, of course, this will also stop. I hope to find oppertunities to meet these challenges.

I wonder how many of us English-speakers are aware of the influence of foreign languages on our speech?!
Here is one example
